What is AirDine?

AirDine is a peer 2 peer service that invites people to dine in homes. We want to make it possible for people, who would otherwise never meet, to get together and have a good time over food.

Is it free to use AirDine?

The application is free to download. When you attend an event you pay the asking price to the person hosting the dinner.

How can I become a host?

Present yourself, your venue and what you will cook. When your event is published users can send you requests that you can either accept or decline. The amount you have charged, minus the 15% AirDine booking fee, will be transferred to your account within the next few days.

Can I earn money from AirDine?

It’s perfectly legal to host guests in your home for a meal. The payment you receive is compensation for the time you’ve spent preparing the meal and to cover the costs of the ingredients.

How can I define a fair price for my meal?

There are several different ways that you can evaluate a fair price: the cost of the ingredients, the time spent preparing the meal, similar experiences in local restaurants, the complexity of the meal and what other hosts are charging for similar meals on AirDine.

How long in advance can I publish my event?

You can publish your event 30 days in advance. When you, as a host, accept a request it is non refundable (except those rare occasions when you, as a host, need to cancel an event).

Do I have to precisely define my menu in the description of the meal?

The more content you provide in your description, the more attractive your event will be. You will also minimise the risk of misunderstandings.\nPlease also consider that your guests may suffer from certain food allergies.

Can I include alcoholic drinks in the price?

In most countries it´s illegal to sell alcohol without a permit. Including alcoholic drinks in the dinner price would be considered as selling alcohol. You must follow the laws and regulations in the country where the event is taking place.

Can I edit my event if it has already been published?

You can't edit a published event. If details of a published event were to change, the guest might feel that they didn’t get what they paid for.

Why is it important to respond quickly to a booking request?

We always recommend that you don't keep your guests waiting. A prompt reply increases your chances of getting your dinner fully booked.

What is ”House rules”?

You’re welcome to set the rules for your venue under ”House Rules”. You can also add rules by including them in the description of your event.

When will I get paid for the event hosted?

Your payment will be sent to the bank account registered with AirDine within a few days after the event. That’s why we ask for your bank details.

Do I have to accept every booking request?

As a host you’re free to accept or decline any booking request. No explanation needed.

What if I have to cancel a published event?

By cancelling an event you cause your guests great inconvenience. If you do have to cancel we recommend that you send your guests a message apologising and explaining why. The guests can rate you even if no event has taken place so sending them a message is very important. If a host cancels events more than once AirDine may ban the host from AirDine.

Will my event happen even if it’s not fully booked?

Yes, as soon as you accept your first guest the event is confirmed and will go ahead even if it is not fully booked.

How do I know that a host is a good cook?

There are several ways for you to evaluate a host. Visit the host’s profile and look at ratings and reviews. If you have any questions feel free to message the host.

Will the host eat with the guests?

Yes! The host always joins in.

How long will it take for the host to respond to my request?

We encourage all hosts to respond quickly.\nIf you send requests to several events on the same date, you will be booked into the event that accepts you first. Your other requests will then be cancelled.

How do I know who the host is?

There is plenty of information available about a host in his/her profile. If you’d like more information, you’re welcome to contact him/her via our internal messaging system. To do this, simply click on the ‘Message’ button on their profile page. When will I receive my event details and the exact location of the event I requested?

The moment that your host confirms your booking you’ll automatically receive all the details that you need, such as his/her address and contact details.

What if I have to cancel my reservation?

Cancellations of reservations are not eligible for refunds. If you can´t attend please have the courtesy to inform your host so that the host is not expecting you. The host can rate you even if you don´t show up which makes it even more important for you to explain yourself.

Will I be refunded if the host cancels the event?

Yes you will. If the host encounters a problem, or is unable to prepare the meal, you will not be charged.

Does AirDine take a commission on the price that I pay for an event?

No, the booking fee is paid by the host. The guest will always pay the price shown.

Is it ok to go to dinner with people that I have met at AirDine events without using the AirDine service?

Yes, of course. You have made new friends.

In which countries is AirDine available?

AirDine is available all over the world, but you can only create an event if you have a bank account registered in the following countries; Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore.

Can I use AirDine in another country?

Yes, as long as you have a valid credit/debit card you can be a guest in other countries.

In which currency do I get charged for an event?

The host set a price in his/hers local currency, we will then automatically convert the price to the currency you have selected in Settings or by default.

What is an IBAN number?

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a number attached to all accounts in EU countries plus Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Hungary. The IBAN is made up of a code that identifies the country the account belongs to, the account holder's bank and the account number itself. The IBAN makes it easier and faster to process cross-border payments.

Where can I find my IBAN number?

You can find it on your bank's webpage. An easy way is to use your search engine, type in IBAN + Bank name.

What is a routing number?

Bank routing number or routing transit number (RTN) is a nine digit number used in the United States, which appears on the bottom of negotiable instruments such as checks to identify the financial institution on which it was drawn.

When will I be charged for a reservation?

You will be charged when the event is finished, but we place a hold on the funds from your bank account 7 days prior to the event.

What happens if I don't have coverage on my credit card?

If you don't have coverage on your credit card 7 days prior to the event, your seat reservation will be cancelled. Check with your bank and make sure there is coverage, then try again.

If my card has been declined, when does AirDine release my reserved money?

If your card has been declined, AirDine releases the reservation immediately. If you still see a pending amount, it will be removed by your card issuer within 3-5 business days, and your card will never actually be charged. Please contact your bank for more information about their authorisation timeframes and policies.

Why has my credit/debit card been declined?

Credit/debit cards can be declined for a number of reasons. AirDine generally isn't notified of the specific reason. Check that you're entering your credit card number correctly, that your card has available funds, and that your card hasn't expired. If you get an error message when you try to pay, we recommend contacting your bank or credit card company for more information. If your bank or card issuer isn't able to help, please contact the AirDine support, support@airdine.com

Can I make changes to a pending reservation request?

Yes. If the request hasn’t been accepted by the host, you can cancel the request and send a new one with the updated reservation details.

How do I cancel my account?

Can I edit a review I wrote?

No, you can't edit a review you’ve already written. If you have problems with the review system please contact support@airdine.com
